While the excited wait for the iPhone 15 series continues, a lot of information about the phones continues to come. For example, a claim made the other day showed that the mute button of the phone could be customizable.
Today, it is certain that a feature that has been expected to come to iPhones for years will appear in the new series. According to the famous Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will bring the periscope camera lens to the iPhone 15 family. This lens will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which will be the top-of-the-line device in the series.
The periscope lens, which will be on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will be produced by Taiwan-based Largan
According to Kuo’s post, the periscope lens that will appear on the phone will be supplied by Taiwanese company Largan. This lens takes its name from the instrument we see on submarines. In the system, the light entering the telephoto lens is reflected towards the image sensor by an angled mirror. The change in the direction the light travels also provides better zooming. In other words, with this feature, users can zoom farther on their phones without losing quality.
Rumors of using periscope lenses on iPhones have been circulating since 2020. Kuo said that we can see this feature on the iPhone 14 Pro; but this did not happen. Later, he claimed that it would be released exclusively for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. At the same time, other analysts stated that we could see the lens on the phone.
Kuo adds that the company will not be able to make a profit, emphasizing that Largan will provide periscope lenses for an average of $4, ie between $4.5 and $5 in the market. In his statement for the future, he says that we will see this feature on both iPhone 16 Pro models, and the lens will be the same as on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
