US-based technology giant Apple’s iPhone 15 launch is behind us. At the event, we had the opportunity to officially meet the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, as in the past, Apple did not announce all the features of its new smartphones at the launch this year. For example, the wireless charging features of the iPhone 15 family were not mentioned much.

Although Apple hasn’t mentioned it, the iPhone 15 will offer some improvements in wireless charging. In this context; new iPhones will now support the Qi2 magnetic wireless charging standard. The technology, which we can describe as an advanced version of the Qi wireless charging standard, will ensure that the devices remain in the correct position with the magnetic field effect it has. Yes, it is the same MagSafe technology that Apple introduced in recent years. The difference here is that iPhone 15 owners will be able to charge high-speed not only with MagSafe but also with other devices.

High-speed charging will now be available with wireless chargers produced by third-party companies.

Apple offered 15W wireless charging support on MagSafe devices. Other devices provide charging at 7.5W and lower speeds depending on the situation. Qi2 will change this. Third-party devices will now also offer 15W charging support. Of course, there is an important issue here. It is unclear which wireless chargers Apple will certify for 15W. Speaking to The Verge, Paul Golden, an Apple executive, said that Qi2 certification has not been issued for any device yet, and that the testing team is waiting for products to be checked.

For iPhone 15 technical specifications and price:

The reason behind the iPhone 15 family switching to Qi2 is actually the same as USB Type-C. European Union laws require that products from different brands can be used on the same device. Apple also takes such steps to comply with the law. However, there is something you should not forget here. As with USB Type-C cables, double standards will be applied to wireless chargers. Wireless chargers that do not receive “made for iPhone” certification may not offer 15W charging support.
