Last Tuesday, Apple held an event introducing the new iPhone 15 models. Apple shared the highlights of these new smartphones, but did not make an official statement about their battery capacities. Apple did not provide clear information about the battery capacity of the iPhone 15 series during the promotion. The company emphasized that these new models have sufficient battery life for daily use. According to the technical specifications on Apple’s official website, the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models offer longer battery life than the previous iPhone 14 models in terms of offline video playback time.
According to the Chinese regulatory listing, the iPhone 15 has a nominal capacity of 3,349mAh and a wattage of 12,981Wh. iPhone 15 Pro has a battery capacity of 3.274mAh and a wattage of 12.70Wh.

According to this data, compared to the iPhone 14 series released in 2022, the battery capacities of the iPhone 15 models seem to have increased.

However, Apple stated that despite these increases, the battery life of the new iPhone 15 models is not significantly better than previous models. This is probably because the difference isn’t really noticeable in real-world use. During the event, Apple made no bones about countering rumors that the A17 Pro chip’s major efficiency improvements would increase battery life.
According to Apple, each iPhone 15 model has approximately this much battery life:
- iPhone 15: 20 hours
- iPhone 15 Plus: 26 hours
- iPhone 15 Pro: 23 hours
- iPhone 15 Pro Max: 29 hours
This battery life is the same as the iPhone 14 series. However, we may have to wait for third-party testing results to say for sure how much real-world performance has been improved.
