The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series received their first update as soon as they were released. This update was released to fix some major iMessage and FaceTime bugs.
While newly activated iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro devices may not be able to receive iMessage or FaceTime calls due to these errors, users may see green iMessage bubbles (instead of the usual blue) when sending messages to other iPhone users, and message recipients may be from the wrong account (e.g. sender’s email address instead of phone number). ) can see incoming messages.
These iMessage and FaceTime issues on the latest iPhones are bound to be annoying, considering that one of the top priorities for a phone is calls and messages to other phones. Fortunately, a fix is already available so you can fix the issues by following the steps below.
In its warning message about the error, Apple explains that the issue has been fixed in the latest version of iOS 16 (iOS 16.0.1). People who have received the iPhone 14 pre-order, after activating and setting up the phones, need to go to settings, then the General tab and tap on Software Update.
If you are on an older iOS version, you should encounter the option to download iOS 16.0. After this update is downloaded and installed, the errors go away.
If you’re still having problems with iMessage and FaceTime after updating your iPhone 14 to iOS 16.0.1, Apple also recommends a few extra steps that can help troubleshoot:
- Go back to the Settings app but this time tap on Cellular Data and make sure your phone connection is turned on. If you are using more than one SIM, make sure you have opened and selected the correct one.
- Go to Messages again in the Settings app and tap on Send & Receive. Here you will need to select the phone number you want to use with Messages.
- Go to the Settings app once again and tap on the FaceTime option. Here, too, you will need to select the phone number you want to use with FaceTime.
If you are still having problems after the above steps, there may be a bigger issue with your iPhone and it is recommended that you contact Apple support directly.
