Apple’s new flagship smartphones iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max support dual-frequency GPS for more accurate location tracking. The same module is also present in the Apple Watch Ultra, the company’s new smartwatch for endurance, exploration and adventure.
Samsung continues to make fun of the iPhone 14
The most durable and equipped Apple Watch and iPhone 14 Pro models can receive signals from GPS satellites operating on both the old L1 frequency and the upgraded L5. L5 satellites transmit a more advanced, stronger signal that can better overcome obstacles such as buildings and trees.
Not available on regular models
With the combination of L1 and L5, smartphones will be able to detect location more accurately in Maps and other apps that use geolocation. In the meantime, it should be noted that the newly introduced normal iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models do not support dual-frequency GPS.
