If you’re hoping to purchase a new iPhone 14, which, as usual, is expected to be available in September, there may be a slight challenge ahead. It seems that one or more models will be delayed or at least produced in small numbers initially.
According to a Nikkei Asia news, the reason for this problem is that Apple’s Chinese component suppliers are behind schedule due to Covid quarantines.
Apple is apparently trying to make up for lost time by asking suppliers to streamline their processes, but according to “multiple sources with direct knowledge of the matter”, the production schedule and initial production volumes of the iPhone 14 line may be affected.
Currently, all four iPhone 14 models are apparently in the engineering verification testing (EVT) phase and will complete this phase by the end of June if they can continue on schedule. But at least one model is reportedly behind schedule by about three weeks.
Apple seems to be doing its best to make things right, but if the company fails, at least one model may be released later than expected or in more limited quantities.
