The recent visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, to Taiwan has brought the Taiwan tension between China and the USA to a higher point. The ongoing political tension may lead to developments that could hinder the production of the Apple iPhone 14.
Delays started in shipments
As it is known, TSMC, one of the world’s largest independent chip manufacturers that supplies chips to Apple, is located in Taiwan. Apple, which ships iPhones from facilities such as Foxconn and Pegatron in China, has recently warned all its suppliers to attach the “Taiwan, China” or “Chinese Taipei” label to all parts and components manufactured in Taiwan.
In light of the tension experienced, it is reported that components sent by suppliers in Taiwan are already on hold for customs control, which means that some, if not all, of the hardware may be returned to Taiwan, delaying iPhone 14 production as a result.
iPhone 14 will be produced simultaneously in China and India
Also, the meeting of Nancy Pelosi, Pegatron’s Vice President and senior executives from TSMC during the US visit could lead to a more intense trade war between China and Taiwan.
