Previous information about the new iPhone 14 series, which will be introduced on Wednesday this week, showed that it would be released at a higher price than the previous series. While it is not yet certain how much (or whether) this price increase, which is reported to be caused by inflation and increasing costs, is yet, shocking information came today.
The photo shared from a seller on China’s social media Weibo included iPhone 14 prices. Prices listed in China indicated that the standard iPhone 14 model would be available for 6,699 yuan. This price is equivalent to $ 966 in US dollars, while this price was $ 799 for the same model of the previous series.

Unofficial price images from China indicated that iPhone 14 prices could increase by as much as $100. The prices of the listed iPhone 14 models were as follows:

- iPhone 14 Plus: 7,399 yuan (about $1,067)
- iPhone 14 Pro: 9,899 yuan (about $1,428)
- iPhone 14 Pro Max: 10,899 yuan (about $1,572)
iPhone prices have always been higher in China than in the US. The starting price of the iPhone 13, the last series to be released, was $ 799 in the USA, while in China this price was equivalent to $ 865. So there was a difference of about 8%. However, the starting price of the iPhone 14 in China is 11% higher than the iPhone 13 in the new images.
While the actual reason for the 11% increase is unknown, it may also be due to the pricing of the sellers or inflation in China. Or, Apple may indeed have gotten the claims right and hiked the iPhone 14 prices by about $100. We will have to wait until Wednesday for this claim to be verified.
