The emergency communication feature via satellite, which Apple offered with the iPhone 14, first started this month in the USA and Canada. It will be offered to European countries next month.

In which countries is the iPhone 14 satellite connection available?

The emergency communication feature, which uses the low-orbit satellite system of Globalstar, in which Apple has invested $450 million, enables emergency communication with designated people by connecting to the satellite network in cases where the phone does not pick up. Emergency satellite communication is available via Qualcomm 5G modem.

Globalstar first started supporting emergency satellite communications in the USA and Canada as of today. Users will be able to use this service free of charge for the first 2 years. After that, you have to pay the subscription fee.

In December, it was announced that the emergency satellite link will be made available in the UK, Germany, France, Ireland and France. There is no exact date, but now it seems that the second continent has been added to the list. More European countries will likely be included in the list in 2023.
