
Mathieu Michel, Belgium’s minister of state for digitalization, said in a statement to Reuters: “It is my duty to make sure that all citizens are safe. I quickly reached out to the regulatory body to request an analysis on the potential danger of the product.”
The minister added that he has also asked the regulator to examine all Apple-branded smartphones, as well as devices produced by other manufacturers, at a later stage. Meanwhile, the situation is being followed closely by other European countries.

Germany and the Netherlands are also on alert
German regulator BNetzA has also said it may take similar action and is in close contact with French authorities. However, the Dutch digital watchdog also said that it was examining the issue and would ask for an explanation from the US company.
Apple says that the iPhone 12 has been approved by various international organizations to meet global radiation standards. The company has submitted numerous laboratory tests conducted by independent third parties to the French National Frequency Agency (ANFR) confirming that the iPhone complies with worldwide SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) standards.
