The end of the road for the first generation iPad Pro

With iPadOS 17, which will be officially introduced at WWDC 2023 and will offer many innovations to supported iPad models, Apple will stop providing updates to some iPad models. Models that will receive iPadOS 17 update

  • 3rd generation iPad Air and later
  • 6th generation iPad and later
  • 5th generation iPad mini and later
  • 2017 model iPad Pro and later

Although many iPad models after 2017 will receive new updates, the next-generation features of the operating system will likely only be available for high-end models. iPadOS 17 will be officially introduced in June and will likely get a stable version in the fall.
