Less than two weeks until Apple introduced iOS 17. And reportedly, the company is working on a new interface for iPhones to display more data when locked horizontally.
The new interface planned to be added will show things like calendar appointments, weather and notifications when the phone is locked. It is stated that this feature will work similarly to what Google and Amazon are offering with their Nest and Echo Show devices. Also, bright text will be used on a dark background to make it easier to read.
This smart screen-like functionality is said to be coming to the iPad as well, but it’s unclear what version of iPadOS it will come with. This feature may be hiding for now, as Apple hasn’t refreshed the iPadOS 16 lock screen. If this feature does come to the iPad, it could be a clue that Apple is developing its alleged low-cost tablet.
Apart from this new feature, iOS 17 includes a new diary app, improvements to the Wallet app, and updates for SharePlay and AirPlay. iOS 17 and this feature are expected to be introduced at the WWDC 2023 event on June 5th.
