Apple rolled out the sixth beta of iOS 17 to both developers and public beta testers, and while this update doesn’t bring any major new features, it seems to be focusing on bug fixes as the official iOS 17 release is coming very soon.

iOS 17 sixth beta update still includes two important changes that will affect many users

One of the changes addresses an ongoing issue with the placement of the “End Call” button in the Phone app. This has been a topic of discussion since the first beta version of iOS 17. The interface for phone calls has undergone a slight redesign that includes features like NameDrop and Contact Poster.

One of the highlights of the discussion was the relocation of the “End Call” button, which was moved from the center at the bottom of the screen to the bottom right corner of the interface. This change resulted in users accidentally pressing the Keypad or FaceTime buttons when trying to end a call.

In response to negative feedback, Apple has reverted the “End Call” button to its original central position in iOS 17 beta 6, so users won’t make the wrong choice again.

Another notable change is related to the Messages app. iOS 17 brings a host of new features to Messages, including Live Stickers, voicemail decoding, and Swipe to Reply.

The interface for interacting with iMessage apps has also been redesigned. The list of iMessage apps is now hidden under a “+” icon that expands when tapped. However, this design change hides the Camera and Photos buttons within the menu, making these features that previously had custom shortcuts more cumbersome to access.

Sending photos via iMessage now requires extra taps. While the general interface remains unchanged in the latest beta, Apple has introduced a subtle but useful shortcut. Pressing and holding the “+” button triggers Photo Picker in iMessage and offers a more convenient way to send photos compared to the previous setup.
