Overall, Android is an operating system that can offer more multitasking flexibility than iOS. Despite that, it doesn’t have the ability to drag and drop files between two full-screen apps. iOS 16, on the other hand, lets you drag and drop an element from one full-screen app to another full-screen app using system gestures.
Fortunately, with Android 14, that may change. According to recent rumors, Android 14 will introduce a new feature that will make Android multitasking capabilities a much better experience. Nail Sadykov, editor of the Google News Telegram channel, noticed a feature in the latest Android 14 beta that lets you drag and drop files or text between two full-screen apps.
On Android 14, all you have to do is long-press on text, images or other files with one finger, then use your second finger to scroll through the system while holding the selected media. This gesture command eliminates the need to switch two apps to split-screen mode to drag and drop files between apps.
This feature can be even more useful on devices with large screens such as foldable phones and tablets. The feature will come to phones and tablets compatible with Android 14, which will be available later this year.
