With the purchase of a new smartphone, whether iOS or Android, loads of apps come pre-installed. At this point, some manufacturers allow the user to delete unnecessary applications by freeing them, while some phones do not allow this.
Apple allowed the removal of built-in apps on iPhones with the iOS 10 operating system. While a limited number of applications could be deleted in the first place, the company increased this number over time and currently 27 programs can be removed from FaceTime to Contacts to Maps. With the new iOS 16 version, this number has increased to 30.
Find and Clock applications can be deleted with iOS 16
With the iOS 16 operating system introduced at the WWDC22 event, Apple’s Find, Clock and Health applications can be removed from the iPhone. Currently, one of these three applications can only be deleted from the home screen, but remains in the application archive. If you don’t need it, you can now remove it completely from the phone.
Of course, deleting these applications will not affect the phone’s features. For example, even if you remove Find My, the “Find iPhone” function will still work. However, you will not be able to locate the AirTag and other devices you have associated with your Apple ID. For that, you’ll need to reinstall Find My from the App Store.
Likewise, when you remove Clock, iPhone’s clock function will still work. However, if you frequently use features such as alarm and stopwatch, you need this application. Likewise, you should not uninstall the Health app in order to track your health data and use it simultaneously with the Apple Watch, if any.
If you still think you don’t need any of these apps, you can delete them from your phone after installing iOS 16. In the meantime, the phones that will receive iOS 16 are as follows:
