Apple, which started the first betas of iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura 13.1 software updates last October, today released the third beta of iOS 16.2 for testers. The new version brings new functionality to the always-on display (AOD) feature introduced with iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.

Reportedly, iOS 16.2 Beta 3 adds two new options to the always-on display feature, ‘show wallpaper’ and ‘show notifications’. Thus, users who disable the wallpaper will encounter a black screen with the time and date, similar to Android phones. We can also say that the new option will positively affect battery performance.

As of today, iOS 16.2 Beta 3, which is available to test users and has a size of 679MB, also includes various bug fixes and improvements. Users who wish can access the full release notes here. It is currently unknown when the stable version of iOS 16.2 will be released. Sources close to Apple point to mid-December at the latest.
