Apple has announced that after the iOS 15 stable version, users can continue to use iOS 14 if they want to. In fact, Apple has a habit of notifying users during the update with each new release. Continuing this habit in iOS 15, the brand started to push the users a little bit this time.
iOS 15 edition for iPhone users using iOS 14
Apple has announced that it will continue to offer security updates to iOS 14 users until the next major update when iOS 15 is officially available. Keeping this promise for a while, the technology giant has now changed its policy. Accordingly, there was no security update for iOS 15.2 version and iOS 14 version. The newly released iOS 15.2.1 update also removed the option to stay on iOS 14.
You still have the option not to install the update. However, previously the iOS 15 update was included as a footnote on the update screen. In recent versions, this software update warning is front and center.
Apple’s iOS 15 software is among those thought to have created a stay in iOS 14 option for iPhone users due to the problems that first appeared. However, Apple made a promise to users about this update as follows:
iOS now offers a choice between two software update versions in the Settings app. For the latest features and the most complete set of security updates, you can update to the latest version of iOS 15 as soon as it’s released. Or stick with iOS 14 and keep getting important security updates until you’re ready to upgrade to the next major version.
If you want to have the latest security updates from Apple, your only option is to upgrade to iOS 15. Apple released the iOS 14. 8.1 security update version in October. Accordingly, a user who currently has iOS 14.8 version cannot receive this security update.
Fixing minor bugs with iOS 15.2.1, Apple also released iOS 15.3 beta 2 yesterday. What this new beta offers has not yet been revealed.
Do you think it’s the right policy for Apple to offer mandatory pass for iOS 15 update and not security update to iOS 14 version? We are waiting your comments…
