3 vulnerabilities fixed with iOS 12.5.5 update
Being one step ahead of its competitors in software support, Apple continues to support its old devices with the operating system updates it offers to users.
Apple has released security patches for iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and iPad mini 3, 6th generation iPod touch, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus for which iOS 13 does not update.
Offering the iOS 12. 5.4 version, which fixes Webkit security vulnerabilities, to users in June, the company also included performance improvements in the update it published 16H62 code.
The bugs and vulnerabilities covered by the update are as follows:
- CVE-2021-30858: Fixed an exploit that caused maliciously crafted web content to be processed and run arbitrary code. Also, memory management has been improved.
- CVE-2021-30860: Fixed an exploit that caused a maliciously crafted PDF to be processed and run arbitrary code. Improved validation mechanism to prevent exploitation of the vulnerability.
- CVE-2021-30869: The authorization of malicious applications to run code that directly affects the operating system has been removed.
