Recently, a trend has started in social media, how it has not yet emerged. With the trend that started under the tag “Share your photo with your uniform”, many police and soldiers made posts on Instagram that could pose security problems. The Ministry of National Defense took action regarding the flow, whose number of posts exceeded 140 thousand.

The Ministry has started to identify the personnel who make posts that may cause security problems on social media, one by one. Legal action has been taken against personnel regarding posts that violate military rules. It was stated that studies have been started in the unions to take more strict measures on the issue.

Posting in military uniform is legally prohibited:

Posting in military uniform was prohibited in writing by the decision of the Military Court of Appeals Chambers Board dated 04.04.2013 and numbered 2013/35-32. The rationale for this order for personnel was to ensure troop discipline and security and to counter intelligence. In April 2020, a soldier was sentenced to “disobedience to an order” for posting on Facebook in his military uniform.
