The historic acquisition of Activision Blizzard, launched by Microsoft earlier this year, is finally wrapping up. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that the agreement will definitely end in the coming period. It should be noted that the $ 68.7 billion acquisition is still under review.

Microsoft CEO: We will definitely buy Activision Blizzard

The Microsoft-Activision acquisition, which began on January 18, 2022, has to pass audits from various governments. Many companies, including PlayStation developer Sony, believe that this acquisition will end the competition as the Call of Duty rights pass to Microsoft.

Some time ago, the UK Competition and Markets Authority announced that the acquisition has moved into phase 2 review. As part of this phase, he said he would examine “whether it would potentially lead to a significant reduction in competition in game consoles, multi-game subscription services.”

Speaking to Bloomberg about the deal, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said, “Of course, any acquisition of this size will go through scrutiny. But we are very, very confident that we will come out of the agreement happy.”

Xbox Manager Phil Spencer promised that new Call of Duty games will come to PlayStation. However, PlayStation and Sony CEO Jim Ryan stated that Microsoft’s purchase of Call of Duty rights will cause problems for the PS5. According to Ryan, Microsoft’s assurances are still insufficient.

The Microsoft CEO also said that there are companies larger than themselves in the gaming industry. He stated that the company is the fourth or fifth largest brand, and reminded that Sony has also made a number of acquisitions recently.
