What does the CXL 3.0 offer?
The CXL standard, developed for the processor or graphics unit to communicate at high speeds with other components, is controlled by a consortium of companies such as Huawei, Cisco, Alibaba, Microsoft, Dell, Samsung, Facebook. The consortium has announced the CXL 3.0 version.
CXL 2.0 standard released for inter-component communication
Based on the PCIe 5.0 standard, the CXL standard increases the bandwidth per lane to 64Gbps with version 3.0. System-level streams are also optimised, while delays are reduced to zero.
It is stated that there are significant improvements compared to the previous generation, while software compatibility is also improved. Samsung and SMART companies were the first companies to launch CXL supported DRAM products. More manufacturers are expected to support the CXL standard in the coming period.
