Some Galaxy S23 and S23 Plus models showed permanent out-of-focus area in photos taken with the 50MP main camera. The blurring problem, called “Banana blur” by users, is especially noticeable in close-up shots. Samsung acknowledged the problem and said they would fix it with a software update. Samsung said, “When you take a close-up photo with the S23 or S23 Plus, you notice that the area around the object looks a little blurry. This is because the rear wide-angle camera on the S23 and S23 Plus has a bright aperture, which is helpful when taking pictures in the dark. More specific selective focus can make the background of your photos look a little blurry.” says.
Workaround suggestions
Samsung also states that they plan to solve this problem with a software update that it does not give a date in its statement. One suggested workaround is to take the photo a little further away from the subject if the subject is 30 cm away or even closer. The other solution is to take the photo while holding the phone upright.
