Smartphone companies continue to come up with different technologies. Samsung’s slideable phone patent, which is in a very good position in the foldable phone market, has emerged.
According to recent research, Samsung and Huawei have dominated the foldable phone market. Ranking first with a market share of 93 percent, Samsung is followed by Huawei with 6 percent. Foldable phones have become very popular these days, thanks to the ever-decreasing costs. Galaxy Z Fold 3, where Samsung used the under-screen camera technology for the first time, managed to win the appreciation of many users.
Slideable phone patent from Samsung: Dual Slide
In the application made in May, it turned out that Samsung has started working on a slideable phone. The phone, which draws attention with its sliding structure, resembles the E250 model with its body extending upwards.
The device, which can be slid both upwards and sideways, was submitted to the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) on May 21, 2021. The 152-page document, titled “Electronic device with a multi-state display and method of controlling them,” was published on 16 December 2021.
The thin bezel only at the bottom reveals the unique design of the device. Samsung has positioned a button on the left side of the mobile phone for scrolling the screens.
According to the patent received, 25 percent width and 30 percent height increase can be achieved thanks to the technology used. The selfie camera is located in the upper right corner of the device.
Various user options are illustrated and explained in the patent documents. It is described as the advanced version of Flex Mode, which we are familiar with from Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip devices. For example, different applications can be opened with the scrollable screen or the user can use the scrollable screen as a keyboard.
