A new bug has been discovered in the WhatsApp application. A shared link puts WhatsApp in a crash loop. It is said that the issue only affects Android users and both individual and business accounts are experiencing the crashing issue. Normally “wa.me/settings”, WhatsApp needs to open the settings page, but when this link is shared, the application crashes. WhatsApp works normally when reopened, but crashes again when the relevant chat is entered. Fortunately, this issue does not affect other chats. So you can avoid the crash loop by not opening that particular chat again.
Workaround
The easiest workaround to fix the problem is to open the WhatsApp web app and delete the message containing the URL. This returns everything to normal. Meta will probably fix the WhatsApp crashing issue with the next update.
