Porsche announced that the 911 S/T model, produced to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the iconic sports car, will be the only 1963 example worldwide. However, after purchasing the limited edition sports car, it cannot be owned immediately. The company will rent the vehicle to its owner for a year.

Those who buy a Porsche 911 S/T will not be able to “own” it for 1 year

Porsche wants to keep the 911 S/T due to unprecedented demand. In order to prevent those who want to use the car for opportunism, it was stated that only the 911 S/T, produced in 1963, would be sold on lease.

According to the company’s statement, vehicle owners will need to rent it for at least one year. After one year, all purchases will be completed and the owner can sell if he wishes. With this decision, Porsche wants to prevent the 911 S/T from being used by opportunists.

Speaking on the subject, Porsche 911 and 718 President Frank Moser said, “This means that cars in the US will be leased for one year before ownership is transferred.” This process is currently carried out only for the 911 S/T, and the first deliveries will be made in 2024.

Porsche has a pricing starting from 300 thousand dollars for the car it developed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 911 series. However, we should point out that these private collection cars can be sold at auction for millions of dollars.

A one-year lease seems to temporarily deter opportunism. But the company hopes it will help reduce the inflated prices often seen on special edition models.
