Preparing to enter the desktop graphics card market with the Arc Alchemist series, Intel will rival Nvidia DLSS with XeSS artificial intelligence scaling technology. While high-end Arc graphics cards are expected to be available to users in the coming months, a video was shared by Digital Foundry where DLSS and XeSS faced off.
What does XeSS offer?
As it is known, one of the most striking features of XeSS technology will be the support of many old generation graphics cards. However, when we look at the video, it is seen that XeSS tested in Shadow of the Tomb Raider lags behind DLSS at various points. Most of the glaring problems are in the fine details of the scene, which we saw in the first version of DLSS.
In the tests carried out, XeSS in 4K resolution provides a performance increase of 88 percent, 66 percent, 47 percent and 23 percent in Performance, Balanced, Quality and Ultra Quality modes, respectively. In 2K, this value is between 52 percent and 16 percent.
Good news for players: Ethereum mining is over!
Recently, Intel said that XeSS tested on competing graphics cards would be less efficient compared to Arc series graphics cards. For this reason, it should be noted that the performance increase in question will show differences between AMD and Nvidia cards.
While Intel is keeping quiet about the release date of the new scaling technology, XeSS is expected to be added to more than 20 games, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Death Stranding: Director’s Cut.
