Intel has implemented its roadmap against the chip crisis. The new campus to be established in Ohio, USA, will include eight semiconductor manufacturing factories. The construction of the new production facility started at the ceremony, which was held with the participation of US President Joe Biden and Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger.

Silicon Heartland: Intel’s new manufacturing base

The new facility, which is planned to house up to eight chip manufacturing facilities, is scheduled to be completed by 2025. It was stated that approximately $100 billion will be invested in this campus, which will be one of Intel’s newest production bases.

It was stated that Intel’s new production base will be called Silicon Heartland. The facility’s first goal is to open two 1,000-acre semiconductor factories. In total, it will have eight factories and support semiconductor operations and ecosystem partners.

It was stated that the new factories will provide products to both Intel and Intel Foundry Services (IFS) customers. Silicon Heartland, which is planned to employ 3000 people, will be commissioned in 2025.

“Today marks a pivotal moment in the journey to create a Semiconductor supply chain,” Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said in a statement. establishment of Silicon Heartland; “It is testament to the power of government incentives to unlock private investment and create thousands of high-paying jobs.”

The US Senate has officially approved semiconductor manufacturing subsidies. The country, which is trying to increase technological competition against China, will provide 280 billion dollars of sectoral support, of which 52 billion dollars will be semiconductors. But the US wants factories in countries that pose a “national security threat” like China to be closed.
