Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger was quite ambitious about artificial intelligence during the meeting when he announced the company’s financial results for the second quarter. Gelsinger said that they plan to add artificial intelligence to every product they produce for investors. Intel is working on Meteor Lake series processors with a built-in neural processor for machine learning tasks, and that’s just the beginning.

Intel will bring AI to every product

Later this year, Intel will release Meteor Lake, the first consumer-grade chip with a built-in neural processor for machine learning tasks. (After Apple and Qualcomm, AMD did the same recently). But while Intel has previously told us that only premium new Ultra processors can have these AI coprocessors, Gelsinger seems to expect AI to be in everything Intel sells.

During his statements, Gelsinger made important implications for the future of artificial intelligence: “Artificial intelligence will be in every hearing aid in the future, including mine. Whether it is a customer, an edge platform for retail, manufacturing and industrial use cases, or an enterprise data center Well, they’re not going to build a private 10-megawatt farm.”

From this perspective, Intel prioritizes AI on the device instead of AI in the cloud. On the other hand, it is quite natural for Intel and its CEO to make such a statement. Because it is Nvidia, not Intel, that produces the chips that power the cloud in artificial intelligence technologies. However, it is also true that not everyone wants everything in the cloud.
