Various rumors continue to come about the next generation processors to come by Intel. In our previous news, we mentioned that the 14th Generation Core processors, codenamed Meteor Lake, would come at the end of this year, and then Arrow Lake processors. According to the latest reports, plans may have changed on the Intel side.
Meteor Lake canceled, Arrow Lake is coming
According to the news from Benchlife, Intel may have changed its Meteor Lake-S architecture plans, which is expected to be released at the end of this year. It is said that these processors, which are expected to be released between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, will now be replaced by Arrow Lake-S. Let’s also say that both architectures will use the LGA-1851 socket. You can click on the link just below to learn more details about Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake architectures.
However, it is claimed that the 6P+16E configuration of Meteor Lake-S will be canceled and instead, Arrow Lake-S with 8P+16E configuration with 24 cores will be used for the new series, which will be released with Intel’s new 800 series chipsets. In addition to pulling Arrow Lake forward, it is stated that motherboards with Z890, B860 and H810 chips will come. It is also said that Intel will release the W880 and Q870 chipsets for entry-level workstations.
It is stated that Intel will offer up to 60 PCIe lanes in the 800 series chipsets. According to the report, the Z890 platform will have up to 60 HSIO channels, 26 from the CPU and 34 from the PCH. It is stated that the B860 and H810 platforms will include 44 and 32 PCI channels, respectively. Additionally, Arrow Lake-S will support maximum DDR5-6400 memory speeds and 48GB capacity per module.
Frankly, there are still a lot of rumors about the Intel 14th Gen Core series and nothing seems to be finalized yet. What is clear is that the next generation will hit the market late this year or early next year. With LGA-1851, the socket structure will also change and current LGA-1700 motherboards or processors will not be compatible.
