As the release date of Intel 13th Generation Raptor Lake processors approaches, it seems that the new generation processors will play the peak in terms of power consumption. It turned out that Intel is working on a new overclocking profile that will increase the power limits of its high-end Raptor Lake models.

It will offer a performance increase of up to 15 percent

According to VideoCardz, the new overclocking profile will push the default PL2 power limit to 350 watts, which is much higher than the 253 watt levels. Thus, a 15 percent performance gain is expected in the Core i9-13900K. However, in order to use the new overclocking profile, users will need to have a high-end 700 series motherboard.

Besides Intel, high-end AMD Ryzen 7000 processors are also expected to come with a higher power requirement. While the AM5 socket supports processors with 170 TDP, it is estimated that this value can increase up to 230 watts under heavy workloads. The 13th-generation Intel Raptor Lake processors are expected to be introduced on September 27 and launch in October at the same time as the AMD Ryzen 7000 series.
