Intel, one of the leading names in the processor market, may have changed its plans for 14th Generation Meteor Lake processors. A new leak featuring the company’s current roadmap has revealed that certain Meteor Lake desktop processors have been cancelled. For those who don’t know, Meteor Lake-S desktop processors with LGA 1851 socket were expected to accompany Arrow Lake processors. However, long-standing claims are that Meteor Lake desktop processors will be canceled.
The roadmap from Intel, updated May 1 – May 7, confirms the cancellation of the MTL S6+8 Meteor Lake-S die for the desktop series. When we look at the details in the table, we see that the processors are divided into S, H, PX, M, U and N series. In other words, it shows us the full version of the Intel Core range.
Most of the table is hidden. Therefore, we can say that the confusion surrounding the Meteor Lake series is not over yet. Current leaks indicate that the canceled MTL S6+8 Meteor Lake-S die will be replaced with an Arrow Lake die with the same configuration.Therefore, the Arrow Lake Desktop CPU series can come up with a maximum of 14 cores and 20 threads, much less than the 24 cores and 32 threads (8+16) we get in Raptor Lake-S Desktop CPUs.
