As a company known for its high-performance processors for many years, Intel aimed to make a competitive entry in the graphics card market two years ago. Intel, which tried to compete with NVIDIA and AMD with the Arc Alchemist series released in line with this goal, apparently did not achieve the success it wanted and now seems to stop producing graphics cards.
Speaking at the last quarter earnings meeting, CEO Gelsinger shared important information about Intel’s new Lunar Lake architecture and future product plans. While the company included its future plans on the processor side in this earnings meeting, it left unanswered the question marks regarding the future of graphics cards.
Intel considers focusing on integrated graphics performance
While Gelsinger stated that Intel would focus on improving integrated graphics performance at the meeting, he did not make a clear statement about how this focus would affect their position in the dedicated GPU market. Moreover, the fact that the name of Arc Battlemage, the highly anticipated sequel model of the Arc Alchemist series, is not even mentioned makes us think that Intel’s future in the graphics card market is now dark.
Intel’s entry into the market with the Arc Alchemist series was also painful. The series, which initially started with driver problems, then fell below performance expectations. Recent rumors in this direction began to be discussed more seriously after the last quarter earnings meeting.
Of course, there is no official statement from the company in this regard, but considering that competition is of great importance in every sector, Intel’s withdrawal from the graphics card market can be interpreted as bad news for many people, including gamers.
