Intel made a strong entry into the market with its Arc series graphics cards. Intel, which appeared in front of users with Arc A770 and A750 cards in October 2022, has come to the fore more than once with the driver updates it released later. The company, which continues to improve its cards that are already on the market with updates, apparently plans to become a leader in the coming years with the roadmap it has drawn for this area.
How is Intel’s position in the graphics card market?
First of all, it should be noted that both graphics card models released by Intel came in response to mid-segment cards rather than Nvidia and AMD’s top model cards. For example, the company’s high-end card is the equivalent of the RTX 3060 on the Nvidia side, and its pricing is made accordingly. In other words, Intel is currently trying to keep the performance balance high compared to its price, rather than developing high-performance cards.
However, it seems that the company is changing this situation, aiming to meet the users with high-end graphics card models instead of the middle segment and compete with other companies one-on-one.
According to leaks about Intel’s desktop graphics cards, the company’s roadmap is aimed at coming up with two graphics cards in the second quarter of 2024. Taking advantage of the Xe2-HPG microprocessor architecture, these cards will be in the Battlemage series, with model numbers BMG-G10 and BMG-G21.
The BMG-G10 model, which has a lower performance than these cards, has 150W power consumption, that is TDP, and will also come with 6GB of VRAM memory. The BMG-G21, the card that the company will position at a high level, will have a TPP value of 225W, but there is no information about the memory of the card yet.
It is worth remembering that this leaked roadmap was prepared in the third quarter of 2022. Although 2024 is shown in the table, there have been some differences since then and changes may have been made in the production process. In other words, the BMG-G10 and BMG-G21 models, which seem to be in the planning stage at the moment, may appear at a different time and with different details in the future.
