Intel, officially dethroned in its battle against AMD with revenue data announced last week, introduced its new processor for laptops today. Introducing the 12th generation H series Intel Core processors at the CS 2022 event, the company showed the P and U series 12th generation processors added to the Alder Lake series today.
The new processors for thin and light notebook computers host significant improvements in performance and power efficiency compared to the previous series processors. Announcing 20 processors under the P and U series, the company also shared important details of the new processors that will power the computers of 2022.
The processors offer better performance than M1 and M1 Pro processors, according to Intel:
P-series, which has much in common with higher-spec H-series processors processors carry the same core counts as the H series. The Intel i7 1280P processor in the series will come with 14 cores, the same as the i7 and i9 H series processors. Of these cores, 6 will be performance cores, while eight will be efficiency cores.
The new U series has a lower core count than the P series. While the number of performance cores in the U series is 2, the total number of cores varies between 6 and 10 in processor models according to the number of efficiency cores. On the other hand, Intel offers fixed promises with both cores.
Intel stated in its statement that its new 12th generation processors are 70% better in multi-threading performance than 11th generation Intel processors and AMD hardware. He also stated that these processors beat Apple’s M1 and M1 Pro processors and AMD Ryzen R7 5800U processor in processes such as photo editing and web browsing.
