Last year, Intel announced plans to increase processor prices, including 12th Gen Alder Lake processors. The company was expected to realize this plan in the last quarter of the year, but the hikes started to be implemented at the beginning of this year.

CPU price hike from Intel

It seems that the price increase covers 12th Generation Alder Lake processors for now. It is seen that the prices, which can also be followed on Intel’s Ark website, have been increased by 10%. On the other hand, Intel was expected to raise up to 20%. The price increase may seem relatively small, but currently 12th Gen processors are much more expensive than the new 13th Gen processors. For example, the Core i9 12900K is currently $ 658, while the Core i9 13900K has a price tag of $ 599.

On the other hand, it is unclear whether retail stores will comply with Intel’s price increase. Currently, prices in retail stores are much more affordable than Intel’s official figures. Of course, the prices here may be due to stocks. We are likely to see prices increase as new stocks arrive.

In addition, the price increase made by Intel may negatively affect the competition with AMD. Currently, consumers’ demand for both 13th Generation processors and Ryzen 7000 processors is not at the desired level. The situation in AMD is even worse than Intel in this regard, because the team in red requires new AM5 motherboards and DDR5 memory with their new generation processors.
