Today, Intel announced that upcoming Meteor Lake processors will be the first PC platform with a neural VPU for AI acceleration. These CPUs, which are expected to be introduced in 2023, are expected to power the machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies that will appear in the next generation version of Windows 11. According to reports, the Neural VPU to be used in Meteor Lake CPUs will be a special AI engine integrated into the chip. When additional accelerators in the GPU are added to this development, it is expected to provide a huge increase in performance and application experience. Therefore, we can see a significant improvement in various multimedia loads, especially Adobe Premiere Pro.
It should also be noted that Meteor Lake processors will be Intel’s first consumer CPUs with a chiplet design. Accordingly, the new CPUs will consist of three different chips. These are the computing unit, the SOC-LP unit and the GPU unit. But more importantly, different production processes can be used in each of the units we mentioned.
