Intel and Ericsson agree: Competition heats up in the 5G market
For those who don’t know, Intel has been bleeding out in chip manufacturing competition for a while now. The main reason for this is the investments of competitors such as TSMC and Samsung in new production technologies. Today, we are faced with smaller, more powerful and less energy-consuming chips.
We mentioned earlier that Intel has completed the development of Intel 18A (1.8nm) and Intel 20A (2nm) manufacturing processes. 5G chips from Intel and Ericsson seem to be the first fruit of these investments. So much so that this chip will be manufactured using Intel’s 18A technology and will power Ericsson’s 5G network equipment.
It is also stated that the new 5G chips will have wide compatibility support for 5G standards. The final version will be available in 2024.
Unfortunately, there is no detailed information about the new deal yet. So we’ll have to wait and see what the new deal has to offer. So what do you guys think about this? Can Intel compete with the world’s leading chip makers again? Do not forget to share your views with us in the comments section.
