While Intel’s financially challenging process continues, its future plans continue to progress as planned. While it is seen that the company continues to lose revenue in the third quarter results, this situation is expected to continue for a while.

On the other hand, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger reassured shareholders by sharing some new information about its new products, including 14th Gen Meteor Lake processors. The information disclosed illuminates the company’s roadmap for the next few years.

Intel 14th Gen Meteor Lake release date

The first product that Intel CEO highlighted is of course the 14th Generation Meteor Lake family, developed for desktop and laptop computers and described as a big step forward. It was stated that the new generation processor family, which will be shaped on the Intel 4 processing process, is moving towards volume production and the first production step will be taken in the 4th quarter of the year. In 2023, the production of Meteor Lake processors will be stepped on. 14th Gen Intel Core processors will be available at the end of 2023.
The second main product line will be the Granite Rapids Xeon series for servers. This generation will switch to the Intel 3 processing process. However, the processing processes designated Intel 4 and Intel 3 will use EUV lithography, which promises a significant leap in transistor performance per watt and density.

Intel 20A and 18A processing processes

Intel also states that progress on the next-generation 20A and 18A processing processes, which will take advantage of the latest RibbonFET and PowerVia technology, is going well. Currently, the chips are being tested in laboratories and their development processes are continuing. Intel aims to take the lead again in transistor and power performance by 2025, thanks to its 20A and 18A processes.

Talking specifically about next-generation data centers and server products, Pat announced that Emerald Rapids is on track to launch in 2023. Emerald Rapids, which will be offered with Sapphire Rapids chips on the same platform, will allow users to choose from a diverse portfolio of scalable processors. Granite Rapids, which will arrive in 2024 and will pass through the bands with the Intel 3 process, will appeal to high-end solutions, while the Sierra Forest family, which fully adopts the E-Core design, will focus on customers who focus on efficiency.

The coming years are important for Intel

To sum it up, 14th Gen Meteor Lake targeting desktop and laptop will start production later this year and will ramp up in 2023. On the server and data center side, the Emerald Rapids family will be with us in 2023, while Sierra Forest and Granite Rapids will be with us in 2024. Intel 20A and 18A test chips are already in the lab.

If all goes as planned, it looks like we’ll see Intel return to its former position. Although the financial situation is not very good, as we enter 2023, the product range prepared by the blue team for the coming years seems quite ambitious.
