Continuing its preparations on 13th generation Raptor Lake architecture processors, Intel seems to sign a new change. The mid and low-end models of the series can be based on Alder Lake.

It was shared last month that the Intel Raptor Lake-S desktop CPU platform could be split between three different dies, B-0 (Raptor), C-0 and H-0 (Alder Lake). As the release date of the new generation processors approaches, new details have emerged in the recently shared Raptor Lake slides confirming this information.

May fall back in lower and mid-level racing

According to the shared slide images, Intel, which includes an interesting detail in the “architecture enhancements” section, seems to bring the L3 and L2 cache increase only to Core i5 and above processors. However, among the Intel Core 13600, 13500, 13400 and 13100 processors known so far, the first three models are expected to host the C-0 Alder Lake die, and the last model is expected to host the H-0 die.

In short, we can say that 13th Gen mid and low-end processors will have a cluster of Golden Cove performance cores and smaller Gracemont efficiency cores instead of Raptor Cove. In addition, these processors will come with a smaller L2 cache of 2MB instead of 4MB. While no official details have yet been released for mid-range and low-end processors, Intel may face challenges in its competition with mid-range AMD Zen 4 processors.
