Unwanted photo and video submissions from DM are over!
You will no longer be able to send an unlimited number of DM requests to someone who does not follow you on Instagram; You will only be able to send one message. If your chat request is accepted, you will be able to continue sending DMs. Also, you won’t be able to directly share a picture, video, or voice note with someone you’re texting for the first time. First of all, you will be able to communicate in written form, and when your request is accepted, you will be able to share something other than text.
Spammers will be blocked
Instagram says that with the new restrictions, people will no longer receive unwanted pictures or videos from people they do not follow, and that they will not be disturbed by repeatedly receiving messages from people they do not know. Instagram states that the feature will be especially useful for women who receive unsolicited inappropriate photos from the DM.
“We want people to feel safe and in control when they open their inbox,” said Cindy Southworth, head of Women’s Safety at Meta. That’s why we’re testing new features to ensure that people don’t receive pictures, videos, or multiple messages from someone they don’t follow until they accept a chat request. We appreciate the feedback we’ve received from our community and will continue to listen to find ways to help everyone feel more secure on Instagram.” she said.
