Social media platforms depend on creators and consumable content to reach more users. While this caused a fund race for content producers between platforms, an interesting move came from Meta today.
Meta announced on Instagram that it will stop the bonus earnings program it gives to Reels creators. Content producers will thus lose one of their main sources of income.
A statement came from Meta: The program will return with a different design
Meta shared with Business Insider that it is expanding testing to improve its discontinued Reels Play program. However, the company stated that it has stopped the program on both Facebook and Instagram for now.
The program will not say goodbye to creators entirely. The company said it will look for ways to bring the program back in a more targeted way. However, no explanation was given as to when these plans could be completed.
The program, which was implemented in 2021, divided the content producers into two. While some producers said that they made incredible money such as 35 thousand dollars in just one month, others said that the bonus they earned was around 100 dollars.
The Reels Play program has not yet been implemented in countries other than the US.
