Social media platform Instagram has recently announced that it has ended its support for the standalone IGTV application. Now, the platform has removed Boomerang and Hyperlapse apps from the App Store and Play Store. The company wants to focus more on Instagram by discontinuing standalone apps.

Standalone Instagram apps are being discontinued

In 2014, Instagram launched its standalone Hyperlapse app, which allows users to produce time-lapse and time-lapse videos. Boomerang, an app for creating short looping videos, was released in 2015. Looking at the app data, it seems that Instagram removed both apps from its app stores on March 1.

An Instagram spokesperson told The Verge: “We’ve removed support for standalone Boomerang and Hyperlapse apps to better focus our efforts on the core app.”

Along with these, another standalone application of Instagram, Layout, is still available in the application stores, although it has not been updated recently.
