Instagram, which started showing TikTok-like content as a full page last week, faced the enlargement reaction of its users. Users who criticized Instagram on Twitter and even started a signature campaign, finally caught the attention of Instagram. Instagram announces it’s giving up on TikTok-style design
Instagram takes back the TikTok-style design
We are used to copying features from each other by popular social media platforms. But Instagram’s latest move has led to the entire design being TikTok-like. The application interface has been changed to display videos and photos as a full page. In addition, users were seeing people they did not follow on the home page.
The number of users who objected to this change and said that they did not want a TikTok-style application interface grew like an avalanche. Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri confirmed that full-screen posts and unfollowed people have been withdrawn from appearing on the homepage.
Evaluating Instagram’s design change as “taking a risk”, Adam Mosseri said that when they catch a new idea or iteration, they will come back with it. Also, names like Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian had previously complained that Instagram looked like TikTok.
“I am happy we took the risk,” Mosseri said in a statement. If we don’t fail once in a while, we don’t think big enough or brave enough. But we definitely need to take a big step back and come together again.”
In an interview, the Instagram Chief said that users should be “happy” when they see an account they don’t follow on the homepage. However, let us remind you that this feature has been suspended for now.
