The upcoming re-release of Red Dead Redemption has pushed the fan base to take a hard line against Rockstar Games. The $ 50 price tag for the game, which was only ported to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch platforms and did not contain anything else, garnered great reaction. Finally, Take-Two expanded the discussion by making a statement about the price of Red Dead Redemption.

Take-Two comments on Red Dead Redemption price

Although the game, which was first released 13 years ago, came back to a console released 10 years ago, namely the previous generation PlayStation 4, with a price tag of $ 50, the reactions seem out of place for Take-Two.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, the developer of the GTA and Red Dead Redemption series, defended the pricing decision and claimed that it was a commercially correct price for the game.

Zelnick detailed the rationale behind the $50 price tag in an interview. He pointed out that the inclusion of the Undead Nightmare DLC, a well-received expansion to the original game, adds to the perceived value of the pack.

The CEO explained that Undead Nightmare was a great and adequate game on its own when it first came out, and that being offered with the main game for the first time on PlayStation 4 will offer consumers an immersive and engaging experience.

The re-release announcement made by Rockstar on August 7 attracted great attention, especially for Nintendo users who have been waiting for the chance to experience the acclaimed open world game on the Switch platform for a long time.

The majority of gamers are still dissatisfied with the pricing, especially considering that it is not a complete remaster or remake as it was when the first rumors surfaced. Zelnick’s explanation does not seem to help this situation at all.

Because the only problem is that the game is not coming to a 10-year-old console with this price tag or that it is not a remaster / remake, but also that it is still not coming to the PC. PC players have been waiting for the first game on the platform for years, especially since Red Dead Redemption 2 came out.

When asked about the possibility of a PC port, Zelnick gave a somewhat vague answer. He emphasized that the decision to remake, remake, or release a game in its original form depends on the creative vision of the development teams and the potential opportunities for consumers.
