It has passed through 10 different generations in total

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo had 10 different generations in total. The first model was produced in 1992. The Lancer Evo model, which continued to be produced for 24 years, was produced until 2015 with minor differences and make-ups. Unfortunately, the production of the Lancer Evo model stopped in 2015. The last Lancer Evo to leave Mitsubishi factories came out in April 2016

Let’s move on to the first generations. The first Evo model, which started to be produced in 1992, continued until 1994. After 2 years, the company further strengthened the design and revealed a new Mitsubishi Lancer Evo model. Of course, these were not radical changes. Some makeovers were made on the existing design and production continued on the new design.

Biggest competitor: Subaru Impreza WRX STI

We can say that the Subaru Impreza WRX STI model is the fiercest rival of the Lancer Evo ever. The two cars are in competition with each other with their close power and technical features. Mitsubishi produced and sold the first Lancer series in the Japanese market. It later followed Subaru to open up to the world, and it was launched in the United States in 2003. Before going to the USA, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo was only interested in the European market.

Evo 6.5 or aka Tommi Makinen Edition

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo had a special series of which only 2500 were produced. Produced as Tommi Makinen Edition, this model was much more different and powerful than other Lancer Evo’s. This car, which managed to take first place in the World Rally Championship four times in a row, has a serious success. As we said above, this model, known as the Evo 6.5, could only be produced in 2500 units. Its successive successes were due to its differences with the regular Lancer Evo.

Fastest Lancer Evo reaches +350 km/h

Let’s come to the fastest Lancer Evo model ever. This model was owned by Mike Reichen and was known as the fastest Lancer Evo ever. The reason for this is that the improvements Reichen made on the car revealed such a great performance that this car could accelerate up to 350 kilometers. This made it known as the world’s fastest Mitsubishi Lancer Evo and set a world record.

“You represent me now, so I was going to give a Hyundai to gold?” Lancer Evo featured in Fast & Furious series

The car was first used by Paul Walker in the movie Fast and the Furious 2. Walker’s great gassing with that car, the gear shifts we call “How does he do it” and much more, he threw the first Lancer Evo seeds into our hearts.

Now on to that scene in Fast and Furious 3 and that red Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. We can say that the scene that comes to mind, in which Han says to Sean, “Your Red Evo”, has increased the love of Mitsubishi Lancer Evo in an entire generation. The Fast and the Furious series is one of the best action and cars movies ever. Action-packed scenes, awesome cars and speed. Speaking of Fast and Furious, we’re sure we’ll see plenty of “F” comments for Paul Walker in the comments.

AWD drifting art pioneer

With its special modifications, the Lancer Evo was highly preferred by drift masters on the tracks. Even though it is not as much as before, it continues to be preferred by drift masters. The pioneer of this was Team Orange, one of the drift teams in the D1 Grand Prix. Team Orange pioneered the art of AWD drifting, simultaneously using the Lancer Evo models and its arch-rival Impreza models.

Extremely open to development

A few articles ago, we said that the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo reached a speed of 350 kilometers with some reinforcements. The source of this is that the Lancer Evo model is very open to development. Some Evo users say that they can get a full 500 horsepower from the 2.0-liter engine in the car, while others do much more. Even in our country, there are users who have developed the Lancer Evo so much that it becomes dangerous.

Purely race-focused: Evo RS

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo also had a special model for racers. This model, separated as the RS, was produced with thinner body panels, thinner windows and lighter wheel designs. If you follow races, you know how important car weight is for racers. The cars used by the racers are more power-oriented, ignoring comfort. Therefore, you are unlikely to see a car that is really prepared for races and is comfortable.

Final Evo: Final Edition

Let’s come to the last Evo model produced before the production of the Lancer Evo was stopped. Mitsubishi named this model the Final Edition, and 1600 of this model were produced in the United States. The car featured an all-black roof and exclusive Final Edition details. However, it had much different wheels and increased power from 291 to 303 hp. Although claims were made after this model, a new Evo model was not produced.

Favorite Car of British Cops

Evo X models were introduced in the UK in 2008. The British Police decided to use these powerful and safe cars as official police cars. Later, the Lancer Evo X became the police car in the country. This car may be the best police car ever.
