The Chinese company MetalFish introduced the Y2 Fish Tank Chassis, a quite different computer case. The product combines a Micro-ATX case on the bottom as well as a real aquarium for fish on the top.
The world started spinning faster: So what does it mean?
Y2 Fish Tank Chassis measures 370 × 250 × 290mm, has a total volume of 27 liters, of which approximately 13 are reserved for fish aquariums. The wall thickness of the aquarium is 5 mm. and contains a filter powered by the USB connector. Also for the aquarium inhabitants, the manufacturer has added an RGB light that can be controlled and turned off using a remote control. The computer component compartment has its own RGB lighting and is not synchronized with the aquarium part.
The manufacturer has not disclosed anything about how (and whether) the aquarium affects the cooling of the PC. However, it seems likely that the aquarium inhabitants will get quite hot if the computer components are not so effectively cooled from below.
The effect of the box on fish is a question mark
Y2 Fish Tank Chassis allows you to plug in Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. Its design has 1.5 mm aluminum alloy walls. Inside, there’s enough room to install a 2.5-inch drive, two 90mm cooling fans and a CPU cooler up to 90mm high. A video card up to 220 mm long and a compact 1U or FlexATX power supply can also be installed.
While it may seem comforting to users, it is a mystery how comfortable the fish and other inhabitants will be in the water while the computer is running. Finally, let’s mention that the Y2 Fish Tank Chassis with built-in aquarium is on sale for $ 75.
