Reddit, one of the largest social media platforms, announced that it has integrated non-fungiable tokens (NFT) based on the leading altcoin Ethereum. Here are the details of the integration…
Reddit integrates NFTs based on the leading altcoin ETH
Reddit, one of the world’s largest social networks, has included Ethereum-based NFTs on its platform. The four NFTs shown below were sold for $400,000 each to be used as an avatar on the Reddit platform. Apart from this, the option for users to use their own NFT as an avatar has also been added. If you don’t have one of the four avatars below, you have to use a specific jpeg.
The extremely limited NFTs currently on the platform are, to many, likely viewed as a test to see how the integration of NFTs can work on Reddit. This could easily be extended to allowing people to expose their avatar NFTs as sales or simply mint them as a function. Apart from these, you can use any NFT you have after connecting the Ethereum wallet with Metamask as required by the platform.
Twitter also integrated NFTs
You can see this new functionality on your Reddit profile page. In fact, the platform also emphasizes this function widely in order to draw attention to this innovation. It is also thought that this could be a way to get people to switch from the old Reddit design, which is still very popular, to the new one. Twitter also integrates NFTs as a profile picture, as we’ve reported as Kriptokoin.com. However, users’ ETH address is visible. Privacy concerns arise especially if the user’s Ethereum address is displayed as Twitter, because then you could potentially see someone’s wealth and financial activities.
All of which can be censored to keep Blockchain addresses free of aliases, which in practice requires great care not to make your bank account basically open source. As a result, users who don’t mind adding their real names to their addresses can showcase their NFTs on Reddit or Twitter. NFTs have become common on both platforms, although NFT integration is thought to have slowed due to the identity disclosure issue.
