As part of this collaboration, TikTok licensed all content on IMDb. So how will this benefit the end user?

TikTok is a clear favorite of the Z generation, especially. Research shows that the platform is used not only for watching videos, but also for getting news and information. The developers, who found that TV series and movie-oriented tags such as #FilmTok, #MovieTok and #TVTok receive 25 billion views per day, seem to have agreed with IMDb to meet the user’s search engine needs.

How will TikTok IMDb integration be used?

From now on, users who will share on TikTok will be able to give tags for series, movies and programs in IMDb while sharing the video. People watching the video will also touch these tags and be directed to the created special pages. In addition to IMDb information about the series and movies, this page will also include other posts about the same series and movie on TikTok. Users will also be able to add the production they viewed on this page as favorites.

Here’s what TikTok’s new feature will look like:

Users who want to add a series, movie or program to their TikTok share will first tap on “Add Link” and then “Movies and TV shows”. Here’s a list of over 12 million titles on IMDb (left in the photo above). After the content is selected, the video will be shared. Touching the tag created for that movie, the user will view other posts related to that production (on the right in the photo above). Thus, there will be no need for another channel other than TikTok to find a new series or movie to watch.

TikTok’s new feature is currently available to users in the US and UK. It is expected that the feature will reach more users in the future and the cinema industry will actively benefit from this feature. Let’s see if TikTok can really connect users to itself and reduce the need for Google with this move.
