New artificial intelligence-supported features are coming to Facebook and Instagram. Users will now be able to edit their photos and create videos via text. Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO, announced two new features provided by the company’s imaging model, Emu.

The first is the feature of editing photos via text, also known as Emu edit. Users will be able to delete or move an object or person on the picture by typing. Moreover, there is no need to select the object to be changed on the image. The artificial intelligence process, which detects the written text and photo, takes place automatically.

The second feature is Emu video. With this feature, it becomes possible to produce videos by writing text, uploading a reference image, or a combination of the two. Although the videos produced are far from realistic, the animations look much more successful than Meta’s video creation system from last year.
It is not yet clear when these innovations will come to Facebook and Instagram.
