You know how bad osteoporosis is. As we age or do not move, our bones melt and many problems arise.

Some diseases can also cause it. After reading this content, we are sure that you will decide to take better care of your bones.

If we think of our body as a house; our skeleton acts as a foundation on which the rest of the house is built.

We take minerals such as vitamin D and calcium to keep the foundation and columns strong. Apart from this, our skeleton has important duties; It produces blood cells, stores fat and minerals, and protects our vital organs like a shield.

So what would we look like if our bones suddenly disappeared? Without exaggeration, we wouldn’t be much different from the image below.

Whether it’s like a jelly puddle or an empty sack, it’s a pretty creepy and hilarious sight. Could we survive in such a state?

We would lack calcium, which facilitates neural communication between the body and the brain. Without some other medical intervention to keep us alive, our bodies would become dysfunctional and we would die.

But let’s say they tried to keep him alive with medical intervention.

We couldn’t do anything without bone; because our nerves, blood flow, lungs, organs would be clogged and compressed. For example, we couldn’t breathe. Because without our rib cage, it is not possible for our lungs to expand.

Suppose we are on a 24/7 ventilator. This means we will be exposed to more infections because our airways will always be open. It causes all kinds of harmful microbes to enter us. For example, even a simple cold can quickly turn into pneumonia.

But as long as we ate healthy food, we wouldn’t have any problems. When they say food, they don’t mean hamburgers, they inject liquids with hoses. After all, we cannot chew food without our jawbones. Even if we chewed it, it would not be possible for it to pass through us and reach our stomach.

When we die, there is nothing left of us. Even our skeleton!

What if, instead of suddenly becoming boneless, what if we had evolved boneless in the first place?

For once we would never get out of the ocean, we would live like jellyfish. In a scenario where we could land, maybe we could have an exoskeleton, and then we would have to molt.

Kidding aside, there is actually a disease that causes the bones to disappear.

Hypophosphatasia is a genetic disorder that affects one in every 100,000 babies. Patients with this disorder are deficient in an enzyme called alkaline phosphatase. These individuals are more prone to fractures and may experience tooth loss.

Fortunately, as of today, doctors are working on specific enzyme treatments. These allow the bones to regrow slowly so that patients can move again.

In short, our skeleton is very important, we need it.
